Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed the possibilities of development of the pharmaceutical sector in the state in a high-level meeting on Wednesday. In a special meeting, the Chief Minister laid emphasis on encouraging research in the pharma sector and gave necessary guidelines for the establishment of a new institute in the state.
Uttar Pradesh is the 06th largest state in the country in terms of number of pharma manufacturing units, now we aim to become the leading state in the country. Similarly, our contribution in pharma manufacturing in the country is currently 2%, which needs to be increased to 10-12%. There is great potential for growth in the pharmaceutical sector. Uttar Pradesh should take advantage of these possibilities. Along with drug manufacturing, we also have to focus on research.
